Veterans Pig Roast and Concert at the Village Tavern

 VETERANS PIG ROAST & CONCERT

The Village Tavern of Long Grove is organizing and hosting its fourth annual free concert for our veterans and active military families, Sunday, July 28th, 2012, 11am to 7pm. Last year we fed over 300 veterans and hope to reach out to even more families. There will be bands all day, a kid’s area with games and plenty of seating. We will be roasting a pig, grilling brats & dogs and looking forward to a great day.  This Event is open to the general public and we invite everyone to come and support our veterans and their families and express our gratitude for their service.

This concert came to be with a trip to the VA and has now become an annual tradition. My husband served as a Marine in Viet Namand we decided to make a trip to the VA to apply for medical benefits. After completing the paper work and interview, the officer across the desk from us stood up and shook Chip’s hand and said “THANK YOU FOR SERVING YOUR COUNTRY”. Needless to say Chip was overwhelmed and moved to hear those words so long overdue. On our way home we talked about how much that “Thank You” meant and that he was probably not alone.  A Hand Shake and a “THANK YOU” is what we would like to share with fellow soldiers on Sunday July 28th.  Chip has now finished his cancer treatment and will be ready to party and play his harmonica again this year! This will be a significant undertaking again but with support I’m sure we can make it happen. Here is how you can be a part of this great event.

  •  SPONSORING A VETERANS TABLE FOR $200.00.
  • DONATIONS FOR OUR RAFFLE TO HELP SUPPORT THE EVENT

We will also be accepting cards and letters of appreciation and items for care packages that will be sent to out troops serving abroad through the “OPERATION AIR LIFT” VFW 5151 organization. Thank you for your interest in our event and we look forward to seeing many of you at The Tavern!
